Food - Make Pizza

Homemade Pizza

Homemade pizza is more cost effective and healthier as you have control over the amount of oil used in the recipe. Its great to make them in bulk and then freeze, not only can you buy larger quantities of ingredients at a discount but will save you time and energy.

Ingredients

White flour
Yeast
Sugar
Salt
Olive oil
Fresh or canned tomatoes
Peppers
Onions
Herbs, Basil & Oregano
Black pepper
Mozerella cheese
Toppings- mushrooms, onions, olives, pepperoni

Utensils

Large bowl
Cling film
Wooden spoon
Rolling pin
Aluminium foil
large baking or pizza tray

How- To

Prepare a basic white bread recipe dough which can be found in step by step photos in the How-To food section.

Once the dough has risen then knock back into a dough ball again on floured board. Using a floured rolling pin roll dough out into a 12-14 inch circle shape (dough recipe will make 2 to 3 bases).

Tip- if you haven't mastered the art of stretching the dough italian style with your fists and much dough flinging, then roll directly onto floured aluminium foil. This way the dough can be lifted straight on the foil and onto baking tray

Next you need to prick the dough base and place in a low/med oven for 10 mins so the base is part cooked. Remove and leave to cool for 15 mins.

Add your pizza sauce to cover the base apart from the edges. You can cook pizza sauce bulk from scratch- see recipe under food in How-To's for Spaghetti Sauce . Alternatively tins or jars of already prepared sauce are available in shops.

Top sauce with generous portion of mozerella cheese. Mozerella cheese can be mixed with bulk cheddar which reduces the cost but for good stringy pizza always have only 1 part cheddar to 2 parts mozerella.

Add your toppings. Remember to always slice your mushrooms very thin- onions and peppers too.

Finally return to the oven for a further 10 mins on medium until cheese has melted and dough looks cooked. Remove from oven and stand for several mins before serving.
